Tzeitel’s Wedding Dress

For UWF’s production of Fiddler On The Roof I was tasked with designing a wedding dress for Tzeitel. For this design I had two main things in mind, ensuring the design resembled the correct period, and making sure that the dress looks like something that would make sense in Anatevka. Since Anatevka is a very traditionally Jewish town, I kept the dress modest with a high neckline as well as long sleeves and a long gore skirt with a slight train. Then I added some extra period flare by including some lace inserts in the sleeves as well as lace trim framing the side front seams of the skirt.

Feste Build process

The most unique part of this process was incorporating the parti-colored pattern I created in my original design. In order to achieve this, my Professor divided pieces of a doublet pattern into small triangles that I then quilted together.
