Design Process
For this show my director wanted a unique take on Macbeth; for the general feel of the show she wanted to create a post-apocalyptic desert dystopia inspired heavily by media such as Mad Max. For my research I took a lot of inspiration from the English punk movements of the 1980s. When designing I focused on androgynous and asymmetrical silhouettes combined with lots of different textures to create that post-apacalyptic desert feel the director really wanted. I also wanted to include elements that may have been left behind by modern society, for example I used old bottle caps to act as war medals. I also used colors to help convey the story, the Macbeths changed into red once they came into power in order to symbolize the blood the spilled to gain that power, as well as Banquo and Fleance both wearing green as a way to show how they were related as well as to represent their hope for the future.
